EDITO - François Lenglet explains what the iPhone reveals about global geopolitics

A sign of the tensions between the United States and China, Apple has abandoned Chinese assembly plants. The American firm fears having to leave the country abruptly in the event of a conflict. The manufacturing locations of the iPhone, Apple's star telephone, speak volumes about developments in global geopolitics. For decades, the American computer manufacturer had almost everything manufactured in China , smartphones, computers, tablets, headphones, with the exception of a very small part of the production located in the United States. Apple  was even born thanks to these massive relocations, the company was the emblem of globalization . His phone includes components from Korea, Germany, Japan, everything was thought out in the United States, and everything was assembled in China, in the factory of the world, and shipped around the world. And now the Californian firm is transforming its industrial geography , by diversifying production sites. But the growing animosity betwe...

In his column, François Lenglet discusses the reasons for the decline in life expectancy among the American population. Cardiacaps Harga: #1 Indonesia Kapsul Kontrol Darah, Manfaat! Beli Disini The life expectancy of Americans is in sharp decline. Between 2019 and 2021, she lost almost three years , to reach 76.1 years. This figure is the lowest of the developed countries, it is less than China, it is barely more than Mexico. This veritable tumble has no precedent for a century and the First World War. If the Covid is one of the explanations for this fall, the drop in life expectancy is in fact the symptom of a country in accelerated decline because life expectancy is an indicator of the well-being of a society. .  Considering the different ethnicities, the Indians suffered the most striking fall. They have lost seven years in three years, to regain their level of 1944, at 65 years old. The Blacks then the Whites come next. Hispanics manage to do better, stabilizing below the age o...

Abortion in the United States: Oklahoma will adopt the most restrictive law in the country

The conservative central US state is set to pass the most restrictive abortion law in the country. In an already tense context regarding the right to abortion in the United States, Oklahoma is about to pass a law banning it completely . The parliament of the conservative state in the center of the country passed a law on Thursday which prohibits all abortions from the moment of fertilization. This amounts to prohibiting all abortion.  The text still needs to be signed by Oklahoma Governor Ken Stitt. The Republican had already  signed a law limiting the right to abortion to 6 weeks  (against 14 in France) on May 3. He had also announced that he would sign any law that further restricted abortion.  If adopted, which is almost certain, this text will be the most restrictive in the country in terms of abortion. It does not, however, exclude the sale and use of contraception, including the morning after pill. Abortion advocates were quick to react to this announcement. Th...

Boris Johnson, Doctor Coué facing Brexit

The British Prime Minister insists that the future of the country will be glorious thanks to the exit of the European Union. As for oil and food shortages, they would have nothing to do with it.    "The British Renaissance is before us!" Lord Frost said during his speech at the Conservative Party's annual conference Monday in Manchester. Boris Johnson's Brexit Minister saw fit to add: "and the long bad dream of our membership of the European Union is finally behind us."  He was careful not to mention the shortage of fuel at the pump, empty supermarket shelves and the shocking prospect of running out of bacon and capons for Christmas. So many new nightmares in the daily life of Britons due to Brexit.   At least that's how Europeans see it. From London, on the other hand, Boris Johnson, members of his government and the Brexiters camp ensure that these problems are linked to the resumption of post-pandemic economic activity, and common to all of Europe. ...
