In Uvalde, Biden meditates in front of the portraits of the children killed

Jill and Joe Biden, devout Catholics, gathered and signed in front of an improvised memorial near the scene of the Uvalde killings.

It almost looked like a Stations of the Cross: Joe Biden marched slowly this Sunday, May 29, past large portraits of the children killed Tuesday at a school in Uvalde , Texas, a shooting that shocked America and reignited the gun debate.

Accompanied by his wife Jill Biden, the American president, devout Catholic, gathered and signed in front of an improvised memorial near the site of the killing : crosses bearing the names of the victims, almost submerged in flowers, with here and there a stuffed animal .

The First Lady laid a bouquet in front of a small brick wall bearing the name of Robb Elementary School, which will forever be synonymous with one of America's worst school shootings . On Tuesday, 19 children and two teachers fell under the bullets of Salvador Ramos, barely 18 years old.
